Is pollution really a serious matter? Well, I don’t think so, who cares about something as illogical and natural as pollution. Its okay to breath polluted air, it will just affect your lungs or other bodily parts but who cares. You know what’s more important, it’s getting good marks, otherwise you will not get a good job, what’s more important is working your ass out to get promotions otherwise your existence is immaterial. Today, I am going to write, even if I write shit, I am gonna write because enough is enough. I can’t see more political debates over pollution. I can’t see State government and Central government making Delhi’s pollution a blame game. Pollution is never a political matter and it never will be, it’s an evil and we need to fight against it. But what you all are doing, just making a fuss over it and it’s enough, I can’t tolerate it anymore and I can’t hear any more bullshit, because enough is enough.
I am 20 and I am currently in my second year of graduation which clearly means that I have completed my senior secondary (class 12th) and if I talk about my school experience I can proudly say that I was taught Pythagoras theorem and trigonometry, even calculus and geometry but no one bothered to taught me the importance of saving the environment. I was taught Chemistry and Physics but nothing about cleanliness and happiness. Oh yes! I remember I had subjects called environmental studies and value education, but they were optional and they were never considered important because you can’t be an engineer or a doctor by having good values I guess and earning money is more important than being happy and a good human. I think you all can relate with what I am saying right?
People these days have become so competitive that they have forget the meaning of life we have considered this life as a race and we all are competing to win, but life actually is a journey and is meant to be enjoyed, just bear with me, if I talk about a class of 60 students, you will see that almost everyone have different birthdays, we all are born in different days and in different years and we are from different economic backgrounds, not only that, we all have different interests but we are all competing in the same class for marks and we are placed in ranks like 1st, 2nd or 3rd . Do you think that this classification is right? Well we all have one thing in common and that is the surrounding (environment) and nature that we have and there lies the irony we have deteriorated the very thing that is common to us and is the essence of life for illogical man made thing. If we really want to make things better we need to pay more attention to what is common for us all (environment) and replace that competition with co-operation.
Talking about the legal aspect of it, we have environmental laws; we have various environmental committees and national and international organisations but they all are almost ineffective, I am not saying they don’t work but the way they act is doubtful. Also Article 21 of our constitution guarantees us Right to life and personal liberty, and the Supreme Court through various pronouncements have declared that Right to health is also a fundamental right which falls under the ambit of Article 21. As we all have right to life, it’s the duty of the state to provide us the same, the state government and the central government should take pollution preventive measure as to guarantee us our right to health.
Environment according to me should be the number 1 priority of any nation and should be free from all political arguments, we are alive because of what we get from our environment and if we disturb our environment, the earth will not survive for long.
Well, I am currently in Nainital, my hometown and I have to go back to Delhi tomorrow and if you compare the two places you will find a tremendous difference between two the reason being, there are a lot more trees in Nainital as compared to Delhi and they help in cleaning the pollutants much faster than that in Delhi.
So let’s come together and save our environment because life is amazing only when we have a good environment. Take oath and plant more and more trees, and I request the government to please control the situation in Delhi and make suitable measure for everyone until the situation is under control. Please share it with as many people as you can.
