I don’t understand the importance of exams in our education system, but I do know about the importance of life. Every single one of us gets to live once, life is not like a video game, you are not allowed to start from a checkpoint once you die. If you die, you just die, you are out of the game, You are then just a memory, and are only remembered by those who were once close to you. The reason I referred to life as a game is that we are all characters who are being played by a few businessmen, politicians, or other influential people, and we can’t do anything because they are the ones controlling us. If we try to fight back, we are either killed or thrown out of the game by these players, or the rarest of all, we become one of the players.
The reason I am writing this blog post is that we all are going through hard times due to this COVID-19 pandemic, most of us are not even in the best state of mind, because we have nothing to do and there is a lot of shit happening around us. I will not talk about the coronavirus pandemic or the government’s steps ( failures), or the conditions of migrating labours or any other thing related to it, because I can’t compete with the media on that aspect. But I am gonna speak about a problem, a real problem, which most people even do not consider a problem.
Today, I am going to talk about the entire system, we live in a system, we are governed by that system and we die fighting the system, some things are changed, but everything is changed as per the mood of the people playing us. Everything is changing after the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the things have been turned online, millions of people have migrated and thousands of people have lost their jobs. The one thing that never changed is the mentality of our system which grades us and classifies us on the basis of our remembering power.
The governments, the adults and all other similar people they claim that they teach us, they educate us but in reality, it was never about educating us it was about them knowing and understanding our weaknesses creating fear in our minds, making us believe that we need to do what is told to us so that when the time is right, they could use us and make us their slaves. And every single one of us has been caught in that little game of theirs.
Well, I know, most of the people who are reading this won’t agree with me, the others would be laughing at me, most of them won’t be reading what I have to say, but whoever is reading this bear with me for a few more minutes because I am gonna say something important about the entire education system
If we look at our education system, we are not taught how to be creative, we are not taught about to start a company, or how to be financially strong so that we could help others, but we are taught about how to work for others, how to complete our assignment and work on time, how to not help other people with stuff because if they are helped they might get better marks and that might create competition, we are taught about how to do things without questioning anything. And to check if we are falling for the traps, we have our exams, where if we start explaining things out of the books we lose marks and are kept at the end of the class.
We need to ask ourselves this question, why are the most intelligent people like Thomas Alva Edison, Newton, Einstien not good at school, we need to ask ourselves, why the richest people in the world like Mark Zuckerberg, steve jobs, etc became a college drop out, we need to ask ourselves why is it difficult for a poor person to change his financial status. And we need to ask ourselves, is the kind of education that we are getting is really education or does something needs to be changed.
Well, I haven’t spoken much about exams, so I will conclude my blog with it, my university just got out with a datasheet for our exams, but they haven’t considered anything about the health of the students. The cases are increasing rapidly and borders are locked. The students who live outside those borders cant go and give their exams if the situation continues. The people who are traveling are being kept in quarantine centers for 14-21 days. The hostels and pgs are closed and it is difficult for outsiders to find a shelter. And the most important question, can’t we just promote everyone by giving them equal marks, why do we need to have exams or any other means to create a distinction between individuals, because not everyone is good at everything but definitely good at something, if the aim of the system is to really impart knowledge if the aim of the system is to really create an educated society then what is the use of creating such grades and classifying students, My question to the education system is what are you trying to prove with such a classification?
