I thought democracy meant a government of the people, for the people and by the people as defined by Abraham Lincoln but what I see is contrary. India, the biggest democracy in the world is working on the contrary; even I am not sure what’s happening in my country. Are we going towards destruction, well this is what it seems like, at least to me. I am not writing anything about the CAB or any other government policy, neither am I speaking anything against the popular elected government, but all I am speaking is about the mayhem that we are going through. Whenever I open my social media I find posts on violence, attacks, lathi charges and what not, I don’t know when the meaning of democracy was changed to a government against the people, to kill the people and against the will of the people.
It saddens me when I see people dividing themselves on the basis of religion, caste, creed or sex. It saddens me when I read about wars, when I read about slavery, trafficking, exodus, genocides and discrimination. I feel sad when people harm other people just because someone else tells them to. I feel sad when people commit crime, I feel sad when I read that people have nothing to eat, I feel sad when people have no human rights but I feel disgusted when government is silent on these issues or is trying to promote them. You might think about why government would ever promote such things. Well it’s happening and government is even putting people inside jails just for speaking their minds out, and I find it nothing but a threat to democracy. I sometimes feel that animals are much better than us humans.
Have you ever seen an animal protest? I guess not, nor have I, but I definitely remember some idiot telling me that Humans are the greatest and the most intelligent of all species in the animal kingdom. But if intelligence and greatness means killing people, destroying the world, being greedy then I think its better not to be great or intelligent. If we see animals, we could see that they have unity, they have cooperation and they thrive for their progress. Animals don’t have any citizenship at all they all are united, the law of nature never discriminates anyone on the basis of caste creed sex or any other discriminatory dimension, but our laws they surely does.
India is a secular country but we all have been talking in terms of Hindus and Muslims, we have laws differentiating Hindus and Muslims. We have names that are discriminatory but deep down we are one. We celebrate Holi and the Holi songs that we sing are mostly written by the sufi poets during the Mughal period. Even Deepawali and every other festival that we celebrate have an Islamic touch in it and the way Islamic festivals are celebrated in India they are sure to have a Hindu touch in it. It’s nothing but cultural diffusion and even if you look at the origin of any religion you will see that every religion got originated due to the need of the time. Hebrews started jewism to save themselves from Egyptian slavery, Christianity came to eradicate the evils of that time, and the origin of Islam was to create back peace in the society, hence making it the most peaceful religion in the world.
I know I have deviated from what I was writing but these are my thoughts and its beeter to pen them down then to just wander. But my main contention to write this piece was to ask everyone to stop discrimination, because we are just like animals we are also bound by the laws of nature and we are suppose to live and enjoy our time rather then being the slave of the sytem.
